Just before I started writing this, I was checking the Burberry Prorsum reviews I have written in the past five years and counted ten of them. Most of them being menswear. That is more than any other brand. It is clear I am a fan.
When I was quickly going through some of the catwalk photos at work earlier today I thought the collection was quite classic and simple. Very nice, but also very different from what we have seen in the past few seasons. Toned down in the colour department (as in less bold, equally as beautiful), no embellishments and not as much prints as in the past years. I somehow missed the beautiful intricate lace shirts and tshirts, collars and ties, jackets and trenches. A continuation of the feminine elements we saw a lot last season, but juxtaposed against the clean, simple, classically manly garments I recognized at first and a boyish twist with that luxurious take on sweatpants. A brilliant concept if you ask me.
Christopher Bailey did it again... I will be wearing lace next summer. And maybe even sweatpants.
