My Italian Holiday In Photos

My fourth week in Italy in a year time was yet another very nice one. Italy seems to never disappoint. During this latest visit to the motherland of carbs and gelato I visited the Italian lake district. We stayed at the Palace Grand Hotel in Varese (which tries to be impressive and grand but is in fact just funny and charming) and visited cities such as Milan, Como, Bergamo and Bellagio. The weather was great, there are quite a few beautiful sights and there was definitely plenty to shop. However, I do like Tuscany's charming hills and picturesque cities a bit more than this Northern part of Italy.

1. View over lake Como from a very nice restaurant's terrace in Bellagio. 2. I loved this doorsign! 3. Photo 1 was taken from the terrace by the pink building with the orange sheds. I had the most delicious piadina with prosciutto crudo, cheese and rocket salad. 4. Isola Bella's book shop must be one of the nicest located ones in the world.  5. Isola bella houses a very nice villa and breathtakingly beautiful gardens. These orange flowers are just one of many beautiful species. 6. Isola Bella's gardens are famous for the white peacocks that walk around freely there. 7. A very nice fish mousse. We went to this restaurant (Osteria del Centenate) three times, unfortunately I didn't bring my camera until the last visit, so I haven't made photos of the best risotto ever (with melon and pancetta), a delicious pasta and one of my favourite desserts: pannacotta. 8. Best icecream I had this time around: Tiramisu Bianco, Biscotta della Nonna and Mascarpone al Cafe. homemade gelato from Gelateria La Romana in Varese. 9. Even in relatively small cities in Italy (and Switzerland, where I took this photo) are stores from well-known (Italian) luxury brands. This Ermenegildo Zegna store was located beautifully by Lake Lugano. 10. Lovely view over Lake Lugano. 11. View from our hotel, Palace Grand Hotel in Varese. 12. There's nothing really like Catholic splendour, like this richly decorated ceiling in a church in Bergamo. 13. A variety of delicious paninis, foccacias and pizzas in Bergamo. 14. Isn't this little boy very well dressed? 15. Chocolate cannoli, yum! 16. Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle is a very beautiful and famous gallery in Milan. There's a few nice shops in there, among them Prada, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Church's. 17. Beautiful stained windows in Milan's Duomo. 18. I love these kind of floors in big churches. This is in Milan's Duomo. 19. The Duomo's very beautiful and rather unique Gothic facade.

Photos are all by me, Sam for Just Sammthing. Do not use them without them permission.
