Show Of The Year: Christian Dior Haute Couture FW12 "Raf Simons' Debut"
For me it is quite clear that Raf Simons' debut show for Christian Dior was the show of 2012. It took Dior quite some time to find its new creative director, but Simons has proven to be worthy of this coveted position. The former creative director of Jil Sander brought back Dior's famous New Look and showed it in a decor consisting of walls covered with hundreds of thousands of flowers. With notable guests, such as Princess Charlene of Monaco, Jennifer Lawrence, Marc Jacobs, Alber Elbaz, Donatella Versace, Azzedine Alaïa and many more sitting front row, it definitely was the show with the most prominent guests.
Magazine Cover Of The Year: W Magazine, December
It's just a few weeks ago I was all enthusiastic about this cover featuring Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior Haute Couture (yes, that coat comes from Raf Simons' debut collection I just talked to you about). It's just perfect!
Style Icon Of The Year: Jessica Chastain
Whether she's attending the Academy Awards as a nominee (see photo) or leaving the stage door after a Broadway performance, Jessica Chastain is always looking smashing. I'm already looking forward to see her wearing a whole bunch of beautiful gowns, since she has another award season in the pocket with her role in Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty.
Best New Model Of The Year: Maartje Verhoef
She has done only one serious job yet, but it's quite a big one: she walked a worldwide exclusive for Prada SS13. And you know what? This beautiful fifteen-year-old Dutch girl is going to the same school I went to myself! I probably have seen her quite a few times around when I was still in school two years ago, and now all of a sudden, she is taking the fashion world by storm. Well done Maartje!
Have a great New Year's Eve! See You in 2013!
