Raf Simons' Debut for Christian Dior

It was, without a doubt, the most anticipated show in quite a while: Raf Simons' first ever collection for Christian Dior. He didn't disappoint. It was however quite a change. John Galliano's Dior was dramatic, all about telling a story and going all the way. After he left it changed, of course, but now it finally feels like the Galliano chapter is over. Raf Simons is now in charge and as I said, he's done pretty damn well!

I don't know if after just one collection we can speak about Simons' Dior, but to do so his Christian Dior Haute Couture is sophisticated and sober, but obviously haute couture. It's in the spirit of "The New Look" but translated into today's aesthetics. Think full skirted gowns, cigarette pants and coat-dresses. All perfectly elegant and promising. Raf Simons has definitely proven himself great enough to be leading what's probably my favourite French power house once more.
