Award Season 2012: Academy Awards

It's been a while, I know, but I hope this post will mark my 'comeback' in the blogosphere, just in time to cover the most glamorous night of the year ánd Paris Fashion Week!

For the first time I was able to view a red carpet show live! It's so cool! Since I live in the Netherlands, the Oscars are broadcasted litterally in the middle of the night here. Though I did see all the stars coming in, I didn't watch the actual show. Such a pity.

I'd like to congratulate all of the winners and Octavia Spencer in particular. I'd been hoping The Help would  win Best Picture and Viola Davis best actress. I do think however that respectively The Artist and Meryl Streep are great winners too.

But how about the winners on the red carpet?

All in white: best supporting actress winner Octavia Spencer wearing Tadashi Shoji, Shailene Woodley in Valentino Haute Couture and Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab. All of them look beautiful and glamorous, as it should for the Academy Awards
The strapless girls: best actress nominee Michelle Williams wearing Louis Vuitton, Natalie Portman in vintage Dior Haute Couture and best supporting actress nomine Jessica Chastain wearing Alexander McQueen. Yes, these three gowns are strapless, but furthermore they are as different as they could possibly be. I love all of them though!
These wives and girlfriends might seem just to accompany their men, but in fact they outshine their partners fashion wise: Princess Charlene of Monaco, accompanying Prince Albert of Monaco, wearing Akris, best actor winner Jean Dujardin and his beautiful Alexandra Lamy and best actor nominee Gary Oldman's wife Alexandra Edenborough.
They weren't even nominated, but Emma Stone in her beautiful Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown and Gwyneth Paltro wearing a super chic Tom Ford gown and cape were, hands down, my red carpet favourites yesterday evening. All red versus all white: equals!
