On the steps of the Met!

My favourite event of the year took place last monday: The Costume Institute Gala (a.k.a. The Met Ball). It's in my eyes the  no. 1 red carpet event of the year. Even the Oscars aren't as spectacular as the Annual Met Ball, in terms of fashion. People dare to take risks more, because this really is a fashion party and not an award show.

This year the gala was the kick-off event for the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty exhibition (which I'd kill for, to see it in real life!), so lots of women (and men) had chosen McQueen designs.

My Met Ball favourites?

I'm not a big fan of white on the red carpet, but Sarah Burton can wear it for once, only days after we all saw Kate Middleton's wedding dresses designed by her. She looks amazing (in a McQueen gown of course!)

Also in Alexander McQueen, with Monique Péan and Van Cleef and Arpels jewels, the beautiful Gisele Bündchen

Face of Chanel and Gossip Girl star Blake Lively, in Chanel Haute Couture, with Karl Lagerfeld, in Tom Ford.

Her twins are the face of a Gucci campaign, so what else than Gucci can mummy Jennifer Lopez wear? Love it!

Fellow Dutchie Doutzen Kroes with Giambatista Valli, in one of his designs. Just like last year, a wonderful, dramatic dress. Isn't that second photo amazing? Look how Stella McCartney is amazed by that dress, haha!

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley succeeds in looking very sophisticated and elegant in a super sexy Burberry dress.

It's short and it's white. Not necessarily my favourite red carpet combination, but Miranda Kerr looks stunning in this Marchesa dress with Harry Winston Jewels and husband Orlando Bloom.

I can't do anything but admire the choices Leighton Meester makes. She takes risks everytime! Again with this Louis Vuitton dress from it's latest, by many praised, fall collection. Like it!

Evan Rachel Wood looks truely glamorous in Gucci.

Renée Zellweger for Queen! Doesn't she look beautiful in Carolina Herrera?

Such a pity Fergie litteraly always looks trashy. Her dress, by Marchesa looks amazing though. Just like Georgina Chapman's and Keren Craig's, founders of Marchesa. Josh Duhamel wears Calvin Klein.

To end with Alexander McQueen, Liu Wen and Constance Jablonski, both wearing the designer, with John Demsey.
