Menswear: Fall 2011 Trend Report

Just before I start reviewing Couture week, I simply had to write a little more about the menswear shows. I have to put the clothes created for my own sex in the limelight too! So I thought maybe it’s a nice idea to write a little trend report! I think the three major menswear fall 2011 trends, are trends we’ve already seen in womenswear before:

Fur, fur, fur!
Yes indeed, fur! We’ve seen quite a lot fur in womenswear this fall, but coming fall men will be wearing fur as well. Dolce & Gabanna definitely showed the coolest fur jackets, but the collections of Burberry Prorsum, Balmain, John Richmond and many, many others showed fur items in all kind of forms too.

Always look on the bright side of life!
Brights are it coming fall. So many brands showed lots and lots of colour in their collections. From the yellow coats by Burberry Prorsum to blue trousers at Acne. Colours will be everywhere.

Welcome back seventies!
Yes, the seventies return. Trousers will be wider, double-breasted blazers will replace the sleek single-breasted ones and say goodbye to your V-necks and hello to turtlenecks. Especially Roberto Cavalli seems to have good memories to those good old days.
