Couture week: Christian Dior spring 2011

Last Couture season, Christian Dior was my favourite show. The bombastic, flowers-inspired show was very inspiring, so my hopes and expectations were high. John Galliano didn’t let me down, but he didn’t impress me as much as he did last Couture season either. Though I really loved the show!

I especially loved the layering and the volume it created. Lots and lots of layers of tulle, gave some skirts and dresses a wonderful silhouette. Another thing I really liked was the gradient effect used on many pieces. John Galliano found inspiration in René Gruau’s illustrations. That gradient effect definitely showed that.

Thanks to style.com’s amazing detail photos, we, mortal people, are able to take a closer look on the fantastically well-crafted pieces.
