Paris Fashion Week! Nina Ricci, Zac Posen, Balmain and… Balenciaga

I think I’ve always loved Paris. Paris Fashion Week is just one of these amazing parts of Paris. Maybe to many, Paris Fashion Week isn’t as interesting as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre or the Notre Dame, but to me it really is an important part of Paris. Paris isn’t only a romantic city full of culture. It’s THE fashion capital in the world too. Walking down the Avenue Montaigne, the Rue Feaubourg-Saint Honoré or the amazing Avenue des Champs-Élysées is so cool!

Earlier this week Paris Fashion Week officially started. Unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to write about it before again. Anyway, today I’m writing about Nina Ricci, Zac Posen, Balmain and Balenciaga.

Nina Ricci
The show started with a bunch with – how surprising – neutral looks, but ended with striking, vivid colours. Almost everything is really flowing and girly and lovely. I’d love to actually see women wearing this. They will probably look super chic!

Zac Posen
For the first time Zac Posen showed his younger line, Z spoke by Zac Posen on the runway in hometown New York a couple of weeks ago. Now he showed his signature line (almost only evening wear!) in wonderful Paris. Though I like subtleness, and Zac Posen isn’t always that subtle, I love his collections. This collection wasn’t subtle, but again I liked it. Sometimes there were too many feathers around, but over all this was a nice collection with some outstanding pieces. I especially loved the smart drapery and sexy cut-outs and the fact that a several of well-known models walked the show: Crystal Renn, Hilary Rhoda and Coco Rocha.

I love the tough Balmain style. It looks so good on both men and women. This collection of course is different the brand’s former collections, but it’s kind of like the same story. Not very surprising, but I personally think it works. The studded, leather biker jackets, the tuxedo style jackets, the holey tee’s and bleached jeans look as cool as they did last few seasons. I find it so cool that the looks are tough and casual, but the craftsmanship and quality of these clothes is so amazing that they actually look chic and sophisticated.

I’m sorry Nicolas Ghesquière, I didn’t like your collection! The reason why I am talking about this show is the casting. I had plenty of time to watch the models, for I didn’t like the clothes and I hated the flat shoes. This show featured three of the biggest names in model-world: Miranda Kerr, Chanel Iman and… Gisele Bündchen! Is this common in Paris? I saw it before at Zac Posen and I definitely find it a good thing! I love seeing big names during Fashion shows. And isn’t it amazing that Miranda Kerr looks THIS good while she is five months pregnant?!
