New York Fashion Week: day five

Who made this Fashion Week schedule? He or she must have been crazy! Four of the biggest shows of the week, Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan, Halston and of course Marc Jacobs on one day! I have to say, yesterday was spectacular. So many good shows I’ve something to write about. Only disadvantage, I will not be able to review every show I liked…
Carolina Herrera
Dutch crown princess Maximá is a Carolina Herrera fan, and I completely understand that after seeing this collection. Both her more casual dresses and outfits and her evening gowns are perfect for a modern royal. Super chic but fashionable.
This spring collection is inspired by traditional Korean clothing and antique botanical plates. Sometimes these sources of inspiration are really obvious, but most of the time it’s nice and subtle.
Donna KaranGlamour was the first word I thought of when I saw this collection. Pure glamour. So many glamorous dresses and gowns you will probably see quite a lot on red carpets. I love the flowing in
the designs; the nice use of light fabrics and the wonderful drapery. Oh, did I mention there were almost only neutrals?

Halston
Unfortunately Halston didn’t have such a long show. I mean, I would’ve liked to see some more of those amazing pieces. Just look at the pictures and enjoy it!

Marc JacobsMarc Jacobs has become one of the most important and famous designers of New York Fashion Week, and I have to say, he deserves it. Again he made a fantastic collection. It’s obviously inspired by the seventies. Think flared trousers, typical patterns and huge sun hats.
Though I loved the clothes, the show to me seemed to have an autumn vibe. Lots of reds, browns, purples and golds, the runway was so dark and the classic music so severe. Okay, the colours could have been the colours of a summer sunset, but the darkness of the runway and the severe music? I couldn’t think of a reason for that.
